VINEYARD & TERROIR

A beautiful natural setting

Château des Chapelains’ 48 hectares can be found on the slopes above the Dordogne valley south of Sainte Foy la Grande, between St Émilion and Bergerac.

We grow 9 different grape varieties :

- 31 hectares (approx.) of red including 17 ha of Merlot, 4.5 ha of Cabernet Franc, 6 ha of Cabernet Sauvignon, 1.3 ha of Carménère and 2.5 ha of Malbec.
- 17 hectares of white including 7.5 ha of Sauvignon Blanc, 3.2 ha of Sauvignon Gris, 3.9 ha of Sémillon and 2.3 ha of Muscadelle. The majority of the soil is clay-limestone with ‘boulbènes’ (sandy clay soil) on the hilltops.

Every year we restructure the vineyard in order to maximize the quality of our produce.

Our current production is one-third Sainte Foy Bordeaux dry white and sweet wines and two-thirds Sainte Foy Bordeaux red, Bordeaux Clairet and rosé.
